Operating as a 501-(c)3 Non Profit corporation, Manassas Midwifery and Women's Health Center, was developed to provide a special resource for women who are uninsured, under insured or Medicaid eligible.
The care at Manassas Midwifery and Womens Health Center is provided by three Certified Nurse Midwives, Sheila Mathis, Kathleen McClelland and Monica Byrne.
Our practice is based on the belief that when we improve the health of a woman, we improve the health of their families and the entire community.
We believe that every woman is a unique gift from God and deserves care that respects her experiences, her individuality and her choices.
What is a midwife/midwifery?
Midwife literally means "with women"!
Midwifery is an ancient profession and women have benefited from midwifery care throughout history. There are even accounts of midwives helping women in the book of Exodus in the bible! Midwives care for women during their child bearing years through menopause and have a deep commitment to improving the health of women and their families. Modern midwives not only provide pregnancy related care, they may also perform well woman examinations like pap smears and breast exams, treat minor illnesses, recommend treatments and prescribe medications.
Why should I see a midwife?
Midwives focus on the normal aspects of childbearing and women's health. We provide evidence based, safe and effective care. Many women enjoy the personalized attention that they receive when choosing to see a midwife for their health care needs.
At Manassas Midwifery and Women's Health Center, we work with other providers in our local community to ensure that our patients receive comprehensive care.
If you want women's health care from a provider that will listen to your concerns and provide quality care, then a midwife may be just what you are looking for!
